Facebook

I knew Facebook about 3 years ago while Yahoo 360 was very popular in Vietnam. At that time Yahoo announced that it would shut down the blog in a few months. Most bloggers in Vietnam tried to find a new home to move their posts to. Yahoo introduced its new blog engine just for Vietnamese bloggers called Yahoo Plus but most users were tired of using such a slow and complicated website. They turned to use a new social network Facebook which was spreading all over the world.

Unfortunately Facebook was banned for a long time because of political reasons. Despite the difficulty, Vietnamese users got more eager to use the social network. So many guidelines for bypassing firewall were posted on the Internet. I am so surprised that most of my friends use Facebook to share  their photos and activities. Some of them use it regularly. I feel so happy that Facebook helps me connect with many friends who I haven't met for a long time.

Login-Logoff virus

Today I was asked to recover a computer which couldn't log-in to Windows XP. It always logged off automatically right after logging in. This is the third time I've encountered this virus. I am so sick of this symptom. In the last two times, I had to re-install the OS. This time I felt it was so hard and time-consuming to do this. Trying to search on the Internet, I found some articles guiding how to resolve this issue.

The cause is that the computer registry is changed in the path of the file userinit.exe. So the solution is changing the path of the file in the registry back to the correct location. However the problem is how to access computer registry while I cannot log in to Windows. I looked for any software in Hiren CD but it didn't help. Fortunately I remembered a CD named WinPE something. I tried the CD and the result was so perfect. I edited the registry by running OS on the CD. The computer worked again and I could run anti virus software to clean the the system. From now on I no longer worry of this virus.

My short trip to Long Hai

Last Sunday I had a short trip to Long Hai with my colleagues. We started at 7:30 AM in 2 two buses. Long Hai is a suburban district of the coastal provine of Ba Ria - Vung Tau not very far from HCMC. We arrived there at 12 PM after visiting veteran clinic. It was so sunny and hot. The beach was crowed with tourists and street vendors.

We hired camp beds which are shaded by big umbrellas to sit and enjoy the smell of sea. We had lunch on the beach with bread, sea-food and beer. Some people went swimming in the sea but I didn't for I was so lazy to change clothes. I just went along the beach and took pictures. There was a temple near the beach called Dinh Co. To visit it, I had to go up many steps of a small mountain. Standing on the top of the temple I could have a great view of the whole beach. What a nice day!

It rained this evening

It rained heavily this evening. I used to hate rain when living in the countryside because it made the road muddy and I got difficult going to school. However now my thinking has changed. I want it rain at night especially at weekends when I stay home where there is no air conditioner.

It's so hot in the last few months that I can't sleep. When rain comes, I feel cool. It is said that there is a storm coming which creates rain those days. Although storm may cause disaster for costal residents, it's the only factor that can bring rain to this hot Southern region.

My aunts and cousin in the city park

Today my aunt went to the city to have health check. My cousin was diagnosed to be short-sighted. My aunt also had her eyes checked for cataract. Fortunately all of them are OK. After finishing we went to an entertainment park in the city to have some fun. We had sight seeing, played some games and took many photos.

New dress for my PC

Getting home from work, I turned on my computer and there was an idea in my mind - changing regular XP theme into new Windows 7. It took just some minutes to search and find the theme on Internet.

Having the new theme applied, my PC interface looks so great. The task bar gets mysterious black. Minimize, maximize and close button on the top right corner of each window are changed to a nicer style. Browsing folder with 'My Computer' is provided with a left pane where many functions are available.

In general, the new theme is quite impressive. I have used computer for years and get so familiar with normal XP style. Sometimes I get bored with it. Giving my PC a new dress makes it look better and so my feeling.

Yahoo 360 has not shut down yet

Yahoo made an official announcement that it would shut down Yahoo 360 on July 13. However today, July 14, it's still alive. Don't know why Yahoo wants to delay the time. It also doesn't reveal exactly the time to carry its decision, just saying it leaves some more days for moving blogs to the new profile.

In the last few months Yahoo has urged its bloggers to move entries before the shutting-down day. It even sent email to remind each user. For me, I don't want to use Yahoo's blog any more. The first reason is I don't want my post to be read and then made comments and then rumored by people who know me. I want to live peacefully and expect people respect my privacy.

Try to develop software

This morning I didn't have breakfast. I went to a book store to buy some CDs, one of them is VS.NET 2005. I think I should learn and practise my coding skill. Now I don't have chance to develop software as I used to so spending time practising may help.

My aunt has asked me to make a software to manage her small book store. The requirement is very simple, just keeping track of the inventory. However there is a small problem. She doesn't live in the city so I get difficult contacting her to clarify issue and to test the software. She can only have a look at the software in the next time I come back to my hometown some months later. If it has problem working or there are changes, the time to have it used will take longer.

Clean it up

Today is Saturday. I had a half day off. Going home at about 1:30 PM, I caught very horrible smell in my room. Quickly I recognized it was the smell of dead mouse. I tried to clean up my room so I didn't take a nap as usual.

My room is quite dusty because of carpenter houses nearby. I have to clean it at least every two days. I took me about 1 hour to clean and arrange my stuffs. I threw away many unused stuffs to make my room more orderly.
